The School of Health and Public Safety at SAIT prepares students for the work demands of the healthcare sector across Alberta, Canada and abroad. We offer specialized training in diagnostic and therapeutic technologies, professional assistant programs, information management and training for wellness professionals. Our instructors and staff are a dynamic and motivated team of professionals committed to the success of our students and the promise of an industry-ready education.


Under the direction of the Academic Chair the successful applicant will provide instruction in theory and laboratory settings of the Medical Radiologic Technology program. The major teaching responsibilities for this position will be in the first year didactic and lab setting of the MRT program so to best prepare students for their clinical practicum experience. A portion of the instructional load will be in the online learning environment. Primary instructional responsibilities will be in radiographic techniques, anatomy & pathology, and clinical integration.


Note: We are recruiting for a temporary full time salaried position, with an end date of

June 30, 2018 with the potential to extend and a casual position.



  • Instruct high level technology courses to mature learners
  • Review and update course outlines and curriculum for alignment to provincial and nationals competency profiles
  • Prepare additional study and lab materials for learners
  • Evaluate student progress and achievement
  • Provide ongoing support, guidance and advice to learners
  • Participate in curriculum and program reviews
  • Contribute to accreditation compliance processes
  • Maintain close contact with relevant industry sectors
  • Select the next cohort of students
  • Perform related duties as assigned to meet the emerging needs of SAIT and its students


  • Registered, credentialed Medical Radiologic Technologist with at least 3 - 5 years of recent clinical experience in a diagnostic imaging department.
  • Registered with the Alberta College Medical Diagnostic and Therapeutic Technologists (ACMDTT) and the Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists (CAMRT) or be eligible for registration.
  • Previous experience with students, classroom and online instruction.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to thrive in a team environment.
  • Intermediate computer skills such as the ability to use Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, iOS systems and devices, the internet and video communication software is strongly recommended.
  • Additional educational qualifications and imaging credentials/certificates is an asset
  • Applicants must have a flexible schedule to accommodate the student’s timetable and casual work requirements.
  • A valid Alberta driver’s license and clean driving abstract is an asset for the position.
  • Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.


The successful candidate will be required to provide a Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Check and record of immunizations.
