The School of Hospitality and Tourism at SAIT is looking for a contract hospitality and tourism instructor for a six-week off-site customized corporate training program. The successful candidate will be a motivated person who has extensive hospitality experience and excellent communication skills. The candidate will promote a positive and interactive adult learning environment through practical and theory instruction.

 

Please note: This is a contract position from approximately January 2, 2018 – February 16, 2018. Classes will take place outside of Calgary. Daily travel is required.  

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Instruct high level hospitality-focused customer relations courses to mature aboriginal learners
  • Develop course outlines, profiles and curriculum
  • Evaluate student progress and facilitate student achievement
  • Prepare study materials for learners
  • Provide ongoing support, guidance and advice to learners 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must possess a minimum Hospitality Management or Business diploma. Degree preferred.
  • Candidates must be able to instruct introductory level courses in hospitality customer relations.
  • A minimum of 5 years related industry experience.
  • Demonstrated computer literacy.
  • Exemplary organizational and time management skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills as well as a commitment to learner success.
  • Ability to work independently and as a positive team player.
  • Strong public speaking and presentation skills.
  • Must own a vehicle and be willing to travel 230 kilometers daily (115km each way) to/from training site on Siksika First Nation (Monday – Friday from January 8, 2018 to February 16, 2018).
  • Previous experience teaching adults an asset.
  • Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.
