The School of Health and Public Safety at SAIT prepares students for the work demands of the healthcare sector across Alberta, Canada and abroad. We offer specialized training in diagnostic and therapeutic technologies, professional assistant programs, information management and training for wellness professionals. We are currently looking for an experienced Registered Respiratory Therapist interested in a contracted employment to take place in St.John's, Newfoundland from December 15, 2017 (excluding non-teaching times) to July 11, 2018. Responsibilities: 

  • Classroom instruction
    • Provide high quality education to students in the classroom and lab setting
    • Develop and maintain a curriculum to ensure student success, including online and face-to-face components
    • Facilitate instruction, assignments and review sessions.
    • Facilitate learning with electronic media
    • Develop course outlines
    • Prepare additional study and lab materials for learners
    • Set and maintain clear expectations for learners
    • Evaluate student progress, performance, achievement and progress; enter marks by semester end
    • Provide ongoing support, guidance and advice to learners
  • Support student success
    • Provide effective support to the learners to achieve competency development and meet practicum expectations.
    • Set and maintain clear expectations for learners
    • Monitor student performance and intervene as needed
    • Meet with students to review their progress
    • Provide student support and remediation as required
  • Manage program requirements
    • Maintain regular contact with the clinical faculty and keep updated on current trends and best practice
    • Coordinate annual review and updating of curriculum, including current course outlines and logbooks, as per SAIT timelines.
    • Prepare the Report for the Program Advisory Committee.
    • Facilitate accreditation requirements
    • Participate in Annual Program Review and implement recommendations in a timely fashion.

 

Qualifications:

  • Registered Respiratory Therapist with the college in NL. Membership with CSRT is beneficial.
  • Minimum of 3 - 5 years’ work experience in a variety of clinical areas.
  • Demonstrated excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated Computer skills are essential.
  • Previous management and teaching experience an asset.
  • Degree preferred.

The successful candidate will be required to provide a Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Check and record of immunizations.
