The School of Hospitality and Tourism is a passionate and dedicated team of professionals committed to delivering on SAIT’s promise of applied education and student success. With an entrepreneurial and innovative spirit, the school trains nearly 1,200 students each year in addition to operating five food and beverage outlets and North America’s only student-run travel centre. The School of Hospitality and Tourism offers diploma programs in Hospitality Management, Professional Cooking, Baking and Pastry Arts and Travel and Tourism. The School's mission is "Excellence in everything we do" and in this regard it is currently recruiting for a full-time temporary instructor in the Hospitality Management Diploma program, who will contribute to the goals of the School of Hospitality and Tourism team, to ensure that our students receive exemplary training and education to prepare them for a career in the Hospitality industry.

 

We are currently recruiting for a temporary full time benefits eligible position ending

December 31, 2018.

 

Responsibilities: 

  • Preparing and presenting lectures in the areas of: food and beverage cost management, special events, marketing, entrepreneurial studies, tourism, organizational behavior, human resources management and facilities management and design
  • Develop course outlines, profiles and curriculum
  • Participate in curriculum and program reviews
  • Prepare additional study and lab materials for learners
  • Evaluate student progress and achievement
  • Provide ongoing support, guidance and advice to learners
  • Liaising with relevant industry sectors and individuals to continue to enhance the curriculum
  • Perform related duties as assigned to meet the emerging needs of SAIT and its students

 

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 5 years of senior hospitality management experience combined with a relevant degree (Masters preferred)
  • Previous teaching experience an asset
  • Demonstrated excellent communication and customer service skills
  • Strong industry relations
  • Ability to function in a team environment

We have a department devoted to training new instructors and they will help you feel comfortable by offering:

  • A two-week intensive training program in your first year
  • Opportunities for teaching workshops throughout the year
  • In-class evaluators to give you constructive feedback
  • Mentorship programs to pair you with an experienced fellow instructor


Vacation for Instructors

Looking for a work-life balance?  Instructors at SAIT earn 43 days of paid vacation per year (approximately 8 weeks per year).  In addition, employees at SAIT also receive paid time off during the break between Christmas and New Year’s Day.
