The School of Health and Public Safety at SAIT prepares students for the work demands of the healthcare sector across Alberta, Canada and abroad. We offer specialized training in diagnostic and therapeutic technologies, professional assistant programs, information management and training for wellness professionals. We are currently looking for an energetic, resourceful individual with great organizational skills who is interested in a rewarding career in education. You will provide instruction in extensive database management, EMR functions and other related administrative health care courses. You will ideally have at least 3 years’ experience working in the area of database management, EMR applications and computer applications. Note: This is a temporary, 20 hour/week casual position starting in December 2017.

 

 

Responsibilities:

  • Provide a high quality of education for students
  • Evaluate student progress through examination and assignments.
  • Prepare and deliver lectures and practical demonstrations to students enrolled in the program
  • Facilitate student achievement through mentorship
  • Update course outlines and outcomes for theory and practical classes
  • Contribute in a positive way to maintain a "team environment" and contribute to team engagement
  • Promote professionalism and coach students
  • Provide feedback for continuous program involvement
  • Participate in program and department meetings
  • Arrange practicum and support students while on practicum

 

 

Qualifications:

  • Related post-secondary education and a background working in a health care setting.
  • Minimum of 3 years of recent experience
  • Experience working within a hospital or acute clinic setting is an asset.
  • Previous teaching experience is preferred as a Health Information Management Diploma
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to thrive in a team environment.
  • Advanced computer skills in MS Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint and Electronic Medical Record; use of the internet and communication software is required.
  • Applicants must have a flexible schedule to accommodate the students’ timetable
  • Valid driver’s license

 

The successful candidate will be required to provide a Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Check and record of immunizations.
