The School of Health and Public Safety at SAIT prepares students for the work demands of the healthcare sector across Alberta, Canada and abroad. We offer specialized training in diagnostic and therapeutic technologies, professional assistant programs, information management and training for wellness professionals. Our instructors and staff are a dynamic and motivated team of professionals committed to the success of our students and the promise of an industry-ready education.

 

We are currently looking for an experienced Registered Dental Hygienist (RDH) interested in a rewarding career in education. If you have outstanding clinical and instructional expertise, and are enthusiastic about the theoretical and clinical training of Dental Assisting students, apply today and help prepare the next generation.

 

This is temporary full time position ending on or around June 30, 2018 with potential to extend.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide a high quality of education for students
  • Support students and preceptors in the clinical setting
  • Evaluate student progress through assignments, exams, labs, and practicum competencies
  • Prepare and deliver lectures and lab demonstrations to students enrolled in the program
  • Facilitate student achievement through mentorship
  • Update course outlines and modules for theory and laboratory classes
  • Contribute in a positive way to maintain a "team environment"
  • Promote professionalism and coach students
  • Provide feedback for continuous program involvement
  • Participate in program and department meetings
  • Promote and support SAIT’s and the School’s mission statements and academic plans
  • Remain current in the field
  • Other duties as assigned

 

Qualifications:

  • Must be registered RDH with at least 4 years of recent clinical experience and full scope of practice.
  • Registered with the College of Registered Dental Hygienists of Alberta and have a current CPR certification.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills and thrive in a team environment.
  • Proficient MS Office skills (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, the internet)
  • Previous teaching experience is an asset as are additional educational qualifications.
  • Must have a flexible schedule to accommodate the student’s timetable.

The successful candidate will be required to provide a Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Check and record of immunizations.

Vacation for Instructors:
Looking for a work-life balance? Instructors at SAIT earn 43 days of paid vacation per year (approximately 8 weeks per year). In addition, employees at SAIT also receive paid time off during the break between Christmas and New Year’s Day.
