The School of Construction is one of the largest schools at SAIT, with approximately 200 faculty and support staff providing training to more than 7,500 full-time and part-time students each year. To meet the diverse needs of the modern construction sector, the School of Construction offers approximately 20 full-time programs that are regularly reviewed and updated by expert advisory committees, ensuring curriculum is always relevant.

 

The School of Construction’s Architectural Technologies (AT) program has a strong reputation with industry for preparing top quality graduates. Due to the ongoing demand for skilled SAIT graduates, the AT program has an opening for an instructor to teach part time, day time residential drafting course(s).

 

Course content may include, but is not limited to: sketching techniques, lettering, scaling, geometric constructions, orthographic projection, pictorial drawing (isometric, oblique and perspective), symbols and dimensioning.  The course(s) use CADD software in the preparation of a completed set of working drawings for a light frame single family house.

 

 

Note: This is a temporary casual position from January 3 to May 2, 2018, with a possibility to extend to September 2, 2018.

 

 

Responsibilities: 

  • Instruct high level technology courses to mature learners
  • Develop course outlines, profiles and curriculum
  • Participate in curriculum and program reviews
  • Prepare additional study and lab materials for learners
  • Evaluate student progress and achievement
  • Provide ongoing support, guidance and advice to learners
  • Maintain close contact with relevant industry sectors
  • Perform related duties as assigned to meet the emerging needs of SAIT and its students

 

Qualifications:

  • Minimum Diploma in Architectural Technologies or a Degree in Architecture
  • Recent experience in the home-building industry
  • Proficiency in the use of AutoCAD, SketchUp and Photoshop
  • Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered
